Evidenced-based medicine has already determined the value of Vitamin C. Now a complementary research study from the UK has determined that high dietary intake of Vitamin C reduces the risk of cataract. This study from the Department of Twin Research, London UK concluded that higher dietary intake of vitamin C can reduce the risk of cataract progression, but Vitamin C supplementation had no effect. The researchers determined that elderly people who ate fruit and vegetables high in Vitamin C were a third less likely to develop cataracts. Foods rich in Vitamin C include:
- Oranges
- Yellow bell peppers
- Guva
- Kale
- Broccoli
- Kiwi fruit
